FirmwareRun local voice, music and dashboards on your Echo
TECHO5 replaces the Echo's Android system with Linux and connects its microphones, buttons and speakers to Home Assistant, a home automation server you run. Wake detection happens on the Echo; Home Assistant handles speech, while the device can play music and show clocks, controls and camera feeds.
You need an unlocked supported model, a matching firmware donor and USB access for installation. Fully local speech needs a local Home Assistant speech pipeline, and the original Alexa service is replaced.
