Combine local thermostat control with cloud extras
Tado Hijack connects tado accounts to Home Assistant, a smart-home server you run yourself. It combines existing HomeKit or Matter thermostat entities with cloud schedules, hot water, AC and device settings, and batches cloud commands to conserve the request allowance.
Install through HACS, Home Assistant’s community integration store, and keep the native HomeKit or Matter integration that supplies local heating controls. Heating setpoints can remain local, but schedules, hot water and classic AC still depend on tado; current issues affect some window actions and automatic offset calibration.
tado limits free use of its API: about 100 requests a day without Auto-Assist (20,000 with it), though some accounts still get 1,000. Check your account's rate-limit headers.
