Self-hostedUse presence rules and timed heating overrides
Proteus's climate module reads tado° temperatures, heating state and phone presence through the cloud. Its rule engine can change home and away settings, turn rooms off when their users leave and end manual overrides; an optional Slack bot shows rooms and accepts heating commands.
Run its climate collector and controller with Redis, a local state store, and authorize tado° in a browser. The default five-minute collection makes several API calls each time, so free accounts need much slower updates and delayed rule responses.
tado limits free use of its API: about 100 requests a day without Auto-Assist (20,000 with it), though some accounts still get 1,000. Check your account's rate-limit headers.
