Mira
FirmwareSpotify controls and local voice commands
Mira replaces Car Thing's firmware with Spotify playback controls, album art, lyrics, podcasts and voice commands that run on the device. It reads playback through Spotify's private Connect services and controls another Spotify player; Car Thing itself does not play the audio.
Use a computer to flash it once, then provide internet through a phone's Bluetooth tether or a computer's USB connection. No companion app is required, but Bluetooth reconnection and waking after idle can be unreliable, and Spotify Free account support is unverified.
- Make it work again
- Use it without a running computer
- On-device voice recognition
- Synced lyrics and podcast transcripts
- Physical presets and playback gestures
