FirmwareReplace the Wi-Fi dongle with local control
ESPHome, a firmware toolkit for smart home boards, replaces a compatible Midea Wi-Fi dongle with an ESP32 or ESP8266. It reads the air conditioner and sends temperature, mode, fan and swing commands over the indoor unit’s serial port, then exposes them to Home Assistant, a home automation hub.
You need a replacement board that matches the unit’s 5 V UART wiring, such as an ESPHome-compatible Midea dongle. The USB-shaped socket is not USB, model features vary, and sending Follow Me room-sensor readings needs an additional infrared transmitter.
