Knulli
FirmwareA Batocera-based system for many handhelds
Knulli is a custom firmware forked from Batocera, a retro-gaming Linux distribution. You write an image to an SD card and boot it on the handheld. It uses the EmulationStation game frontend on devices with a GPU, includes the RetroArch emulator and standalone emulators, and adds Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RetroAchievements (achievements for retro games), netplay, a cover-art scraper, PortMaster (ports of PC games) installation and Syncthing (a file-sync tool for saves).
The Scarab release (May 2026) has an image for each supported model: Anbernic RG28XX to RGCubeXX and RG Arc S, TrimUI Brick and Smart Pro, Powkiddy RGB30 and X55, Miyoo Flip, BatleXP G350, GKD Pixel 2, Retroid Pocket 5, Mini and Flip 2, and several other Powkiddy and clone models.
Images are model-specific, and the project says not to install a package for a different device. Moving from the previous release needs a clean install. Games and BIOS files are not included.
- Replace the stock software with a faster, fuller system
- Browse all your games in one library with artwork
- Sync your saves and use online features on the handheld
- Cover-art scraper and EmulationStation themes
- Syncthing sync with notifications
- Standalone emulators for Saturn and others
