Key Mapper
AppRemap Android buttons to app shortcuts
Key Mapper turns presses of physical buttons into screen taps, key presses or shortcuts, and can limit each mapping to one app. On a Nook, that lets the page buttons turn pages in the reading app you choose.
Install the free FOSS APK and turn on its accessibility service; it needs Android 8, so it fits the GlowLight 4, 4e and 4 Plus. One GlowLight 4 owner's setup also needed root and a key-layout change.
A GlowLight 4 Plus owner had working buttons but saw repeated attempts to reach the missing camera, which stopped once Key Mapper was removed.
On an Android head unit, it can also map buttons that reach Android as key events. Buttons handled only by the MCU are unavailable, and an owner reports accessibility resetting after the car powers off.
- Customize the buttons and screens
- Long-press and multi-press shortcuts
- Back up and restore mappings
