Magisk gives you root access, full control of the system, by patching an Android device's own boot image. On the GlowLight 4, 4e and 4 Plus, owners use it for changes that ordinary sideloaded apps can't make.
You need the stock boot image for your exact model and firmware, plus a way to restore it. Owners report older releases working (27 on the GlowLight 4, 24.0 on the 4 Plus), not the latest one.
You don't need root just to install a reading app over ADB.
