Home Assistant, a home automation system you run yourself, can read the active app and playback state from your Apple TV over the local network. Its Apple TV integration adds remote buttons, app launching and text entry for automations and dashboards.
Pair it with the on-screen code from a running Home Assistant installation. Available controls depend on the app and audio setup, and AirPlay access settings can prevent pairing or reconnection.
