Use a Carlinkit dongle with a Linux screen
carlinkit-cxx receives CarPlay from a Carlinkit Auto Box USB adapter and displays it on a Linux computer or Raspberry Pi screen. The phone connects wirelessly to the dongle, which sends video, audio and control messages to the receiver over USB.
You need a compatible Auto Box adapter, direct access to the Linux display and suitable audio hardware. CarPlay is demonstrated on Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 5; Android Auto protocol settings exist, but equivalent hardware validation is not established. Pi 5 uses software video decoding, and the author recommends a lower resolution to avoid audio problems at the dongle’s larger native canvas.
