Add Android Auto with a Raspberry Pi image
Crankshaft is a Linux image that turns a Raspberry Pi and screen into an Android Auto receiver. The phone supplies its apps, video and audio, with owner reports confirming USB projection on the current rewrite.
You need a supported Pi, storage card, display, audio hardware and an Android phone. The 2026 release series is an alpha implementation with incomplete features and reported display or startup problems. Installing it replaces the Pi’s storage contents, so keep the original card or a full image for rollback.
