Velvet OS
FirmwareBoot Linux on a supported ARM Chromebook
Velvet OS boots Linux from removable media on the listed tested gru, kukui and trogdor Chromebooks. Match the exact board codename to its image and instructions; enabling developer mode erases local ChromeOS data.
Audio and sleep support vary by board. Headset features are limited, USB suspend is broken on trogdor, and homestar audio is broken. Test the board’s documented limits before installing to internal storage.
- Run Linux or Windows on it
- Keep using it after Google stops updates
- Board-specific Linux images
- Removable-media boot
- Desktop Linux beyond ChromeOS
