Working speakers and mic on Linux
A bash script that detects the Chromebook's platform and installs the firmware, topology files, UCM configuration and modprobe settings its audio needs on a mainline Linux distribution. Chromebook speakers and microphones often stay silent after a normal Linux install because they use codecs and layouts that general distros don't ship.
It supports Alpine edge, Arch, Debian Trixie, Fedora 43 and 44, openSUSE Tumbleweed, Ubuntu 26.04 and Void; other recent distros may work after installing the packages it lists. It needs a full install, not a live USB session, and refuses to run on ARM, in the Crostini VM or on NixOS. The chrultrabook docs list it as a post-install step for Chromebooks running MrChromebox firmware.
