Open a root shell on older Quest 3 firmware
IonStack for Quest adapts a kernel exploit to open a local root shell on specific older Quest 3 and Quest 3S builds. Its included default target is Quest 3 build 52168470043600520; different builds require matching kernel-offset configuration.
Use an authorized ADB connection and the exact firmware configuration, with Linux and Android NDK documented for source builds. Meta patched the exploit in Quest 3 build 52345320040100520 and Quest 3S build 3697600032300610; attempts can hang or reboot the headset, and the author warns against changing system partitions. The source is public, but no reuse license is provided.
