FirmwareTurn a HERO4 Black into a USB webcam and mic
Give a GoPro HERO4 Black a standard USB webcam and microphone connection without a capture card. The firmware patch streams H.264 video at 1080p or 720p, about 30 fps, plus 48 kHz stereo audio from the camera’s own microphone.
This is an advanced firmware change for the Black HD4.02 on version 05.00.00 only. It needs a FAT32 microSD card, Python and an owner-downloaded official firmware file; only macOS has been tested as the host. Keep the original update for recovery. A failed flash can leave the camera unusable, and returning fully to stock firmware has not been tested upstream.
