Deep OBD
AppRead BMW fault codes and battery data locally
Deep OBD reads BMW control units through a compatible adapter plugged into the diagnostic port. Its Android app displays live values, fault details and configurable gauges, and can save diagnostic logs. An i3s owner has used it to inspect charging faults and battery, motor and temperature readings.
You need an Android phone and an adapter that supports the car's diagnostic protocol. Bluetooth support varies by adapter: ordinary compatible ELM327 adapters cover D-CAN, while older cars need other hardware. The app also has jobs that write to control units, so a read-only dashboard should use read jobs only.
