BMW CarData Telemetry
DashboardKeep a local timeline of trips and vehicle readings
BMW CarData Telemetry saves the official stream as raw files and in PostgreSQL, then displays a local map and trip breakdown. A macOS menu-bar app shows whether collection is working; Linux runs the service without that indicator.
You need Python, PostgreSQL and free personal CarData for an eligible BMW with an active connected contract. The computer must stay awake to collect messages. Position frequency varies by equipment, and the author’s i3 supplies little data.
- Keep your own trip and charging records
- Raw JSONL archive and PostgreSQL store
- Local map with historical playback
- macOS collection-status indicator
