Browse and install community apps on the TV
Homebrew Channel is an alternative app catalog that downloads and installs webOS packages on the TV. It can be installed through Developer Mode, and several compatible rooting tools install it automatically.
Developer Mode needs a free LG developer account and renewal before its displayed timer expires, currently commonly 999 hours. Root adds startup scripts and privileged services, but the channel does not root a TV. Per webosbrew.org, faultmanager roots webOS 4.0 and up (no patched firmware known as of January 2025), DejaVuln roots webOS 3.5 and up but is being patched, and crashd (patched April 2024), WTA and RootMy.TV no longer work on current firmware; check cani.rootmy.tv for your firmware.
WebOS 7/8 GitHub download errors and some webOS 26 permission failures need checking before installation.
