Quest3-Pyrowave
AppStream PC VR with a custom GPU video decoder
Quest3-Pyrowave is an experimental ALVR fork that sends SteamVR video to a Quest 3 using PyroWave wavelet compression. A custom Vulkan decoder runs on the headset GPU, while OpenXR supplies tracking and controllers over local USB or Wi-Fi connections.
Install the matching Windows server and sideloaded headset APK, with SteamVR and a GPU driver that supports the required Vulkan–D3D11 connection. The beta has short-run hardware results, but sustained gameplay is unverified, and Horizon OS v2.9 blocks the project's earlier refresh rates above 120 Hz.
