Command lineKeep a diagnostic scan and live readings on your computer
Open Mechanic reads trouble codes, readiness, freeze-frame information and live sensors through a USB OBD-II adapter. Its command-line interface saves reports locally, and a local web API exposes the same diagnostic data.
Use a computer and a supported serial adapter plugged into the car. The optional AI explanation script sends diagnostic information to Anthropic’s paid API; it is separate from ordinary local scanning and requires its own API account.
