Self-hostedReuse the kit as a Home Assistant voice speaker
Reuse the original Voice Kit microphone and speaker as a Home Assistant voice satellite, with local wake-word detection and ESPHome connectivity. Install supported 64-bit Linux on the Raspberry Pi and configure the original VoiceHAT audio driver and PipeWire before running the app. The project is experimental; an owner documents a Pi 3B and AIY HAT audio fix, rather than a complete hardware certification. Your chosen Home Assistant Assist pipeline determines whether speech processing stays local or uses a cloud service.
