Bring ecobee security and air quality into Apple Home
This plugin brings ecobee Smart Security controls and the Premium thermostat’s air-quality readings into Apple Home through Homebridge, a home automation bridge. It signs in through ecobee’s private mobile-app API and can arm, disarm and report security incidents.
Run Homebridge 1.8 or 2.x with Node 22 or 24, then sign in with your ecobee account and MFA. Smart Security features depend on your plan; smoke-alarm detection requires Plus or Advanced, and professional monitoring is a separate add-on.
The connection depends on ecobee’s cloud and can break when its private API changes. The plugin passes VOC readings in ppb into an Apple Home field labeled µg/m³, so that displayed unit is incorrect; test security controls without triggering a monitored alarm.
The package includes voice recordings credited to RyanSpeech, synthesized with Piper. Those recordings are for noncommercial use under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0; the plugin code is MIT licensed.
