Asuswrt-Merlin
FirmwareASUS's own firmware with more features and SSH
Asuswrt-Merlin is a modified version of ASUS's own router firmware, kept close to the original with added features such as a built-in terminal menu (amtm), WireGuard, custom scripts on the router's flash storage and extra settings pages. It runs entirely on the router and needs no ASUS cloud.
The project lists 19 currently supported models, from Wi-Fi 6 to Wi-Fi 7 (BE). Older models, including the RT-AC68U, RT-AC86U, RT-AC88U and RT-AX56U, are end of life and stay on their last builds. Wi-Fi 6 models run the 3004 branch, and newer models run the 3006 branch.
