Google TV and Android TV privacy settings
RecipeLimit saved viewing activity and personalized ads
This settings recipe turns off selected Google activity recording and ad-ID personalization. On Sony sets with Samba TV, its separate switch also stops that service's viewing recognition.
Google TV, older Android TV and manufacturer menus differ. These controls do not remove ads or stop every app, TV maker or network service collecting data; Apps only mode does not provide the same protection.
- Keep your watch history from Google
- Pause YouTube watch history separately
- Disable Sony Samba viewing recognition where installed
Steps
- 1On Google TV, open Settings > Privacy > Ads and choose Delete advertising ID.
- 2On your phone, open your Google Account > Data & privacy and turn off Web & App Activity.
- 3In the TV's YouTube app, open Settings and choose Pause watch history.
- 4On a Sony TV with Samba, find Samba Interactive TV or Interactive TV Settings and select Disable or Off; the path varies by model.
- 5Check these again after a factory reset or a big update.
