Your phone as a Bluetooth shutter remote
α-Remote is an Android app that acts as the camera's small Bluetooth remote (the kind Sony sells), so it needs no Imaging Edge app, Wi-Fi pairing or account. Android starts it when the camera comes into range, and the remote buttons appear in the notification area: shutter, focus, record, zoom, a self-timer and custom buttons. It also has an intervalometer and bulb timer.
You need an Android phone and a camera with Bluetooth remote support turned on. It only sends button presses, so it can't set ISO, shutter speed or aperture, and there is no live view, no image transfer and no settings readout. The README says the camera it was built on can't use Bluetooth remote and Bluetooth geotagging at the same time.
