Improve public spaces

What's your background?

What will you be doing?

The part across the street from me is great for baseball and people walking their dogs, but most of the time no one hangs out there because the space is not properly set up. I want to improve one area of the park to encourage people to spend time there.

My first step will be to buy and assemble several picnic tables. This will let everyone know that the space is usable for gatherings and barbecues, and also test if the city or the parks people will be ok with this. If that goes well, I'll all buy and contribute a grill, some shade umbrellas, and (hopefully) a more permanent shade structure (a pergola or pavilion roof).

Time you can commit

I will spend several hours on the weekends doing this. My neighbors are also keen to get involved, so as a team I think we can get a lot done (plus the neighborhood bonding will be huge and we'll get some great pics).

Why you care about Vrbs?

I vibe with the vrbs mission of doing good for your community. Assuming this project goes well, I also have ideas for using this park space as a way to introduce people to crypto and the benefits of community currency.
